This class will introduce safely drawing from a holster (and safely re-holstering) to those new new to shooting. Most gun ranges in the Quad-Cities require a shooter to demonstrate safety and proficiency drawing from a holster, prior to being allowed to practice using a holster at the range. Dry fire instruction is a safe and effective way to learn this skill. For newer shooters, at some point as you continue your training, you will need to begin using a holster, even if you do not plan to carry open or concealed, as most of the more advanced training and drills involve the use of a holster.
This class will mainly focus on strong side open carry (Kydex) holstering, but can also cover some of the basics of concealed carry (and getting clothing out of the way when drawing and when re-holstering) depending on the needs of the students and how they may decide to carry. This class will also include dry fire drills designed to get the first shot from the holster on target quickly and efficiently, using a LASR computer shot recorder, and Mantis X-10 that will show inefficiencies in holster draw and first shot (proper grip, presentation, muzzle path straight to the target, etc.), and how to improve speed and efficiency.
If you have not yet purchased a holster, we have several (guns and holsters) that will work for this class. As well as advice on buying the right holster for your gun (we do not recommend universal fit, cloth, cheap collapsible leather, or Serpa-style holsters).
Cost $100 (no time limit) or $150 if taken together with the Red Dot Optics class.
