This class is an introduction to using "red dot optics" (or green dot, but commonly referred to as “red dot”), but will also focus on efficiency in “acquiring the dot” and getting the first shot on target quickly and efficiently, using a LASR computer shot recorder, and Mantis X-10. Red dot optics are becoming more and more popular, as an alternative to “open” sights (aka “iron “sights).
A red dot optic is a type of non-magnifying reflector (or reflex) sight that provides a point of aim in the form of a red or green dot superimposed over the target (as viewed through the optics lens, not a visible laser beam), allowing for rapid and intuitive aiming. Unlike traditional iron sights, which require aligning the front and rear sights with the target (threat) the red dot optic simplifies the aiming process by presenting a single point of focus, allowing a more “threat focused” sight alignment..
Red dot optics are also easier to use for those with near sighted vision difficulty seeing the front and rear sight alignment when using iron sight, as the eyes are looking further out through the viewing lens at the target / threat, ready to break the shot as soon as the "dot" appears superimposed on the target / threat.
Cost $100 (no time limit) or $150 if taken together with the Holster Draw class.
